Dear Guest,
in the Country House Valnerina you'll spend wonderful and serene days, plunged into the idyll of one of the most striking Umbrian valleys, the Valnerina.

A Cloister, a Blessed nun and centuries of history
The residence is sited in the previous Cloister of Santa Croce, fulcrum of the spiritual life of the valley from the XIII th century. T he Blessed Cristina, a franciscan nun, lived among these walls during the XIV th century. (L. Iacobilli, Vita dei SS. e BB.dell’Umbria, III Tomo pag. 293 V).

For almost two centuries, from 1400 on, we have no certain historic news about the Cloister. Light comes back in 1571, when the Bishop De Lunel reached the heart of Umbria during a pastoral visit, and found the Cloister in a condition of abandon. (Tomo I carta 27, July 1571)

Vatican State remembered of his lost jewel, and ordered the reconstruction of the Cluister. The structure that was rebuilt by Cesare Cardini in 1610, and put under the patronage of the Basilica Lateranense.

Later, the Cluister hosted within its walls the religious order of the Franciscan monks, as is reported in the document that certifies the pastoral visit of the Bishop La Scaris (Tomo IV Carta C. 30 V. , 15 June 1712). In these ancient charts you can still read the story of the visit

“Vidit aliquam ecclesiam sitam prope et extra viam sub titulo S. Crucis, cum adnexo Conventu PP. Ord. Min. Obser. Santi Francisci”
ROOMS

From the ancient cloister, housing the old well, you can enter the hall, and see its walls decorated by frescos depicting the life of Saint Francis. If you go upstairs using the XVI century staircase, you can reach 10 of the twelve bedrooms of the Country House: 6 double standard, 3 double superior e 1 single room. All of them have a breathtaking view over the valley.
To reach the other double rooms you have also the possibility to take the lift .
Each room is furnished with TV color, telephone for external direct calls. The furniture is elegant, but still keeps all the functionality and the simplicity of the rural tradition, typical of Franciscan constructions.
The double room with tester bed lift your soul up in a romantic and dreaming atmosphere.
Every room has got the name of a monk in memory of the old monastic life: Abbone, Boezio, Clorizio, Dolcino, Eutizio, Fedele, Gerardo, Nicola, Romoaldo, Severino, Tommaso, Ubertino, Venanzio. The valley has been shaped down the centuries by the waters of the Nera river, among woods and mountains. Villages here exist in perfect harmony with nature and art, and native people treasure the values of friendship and hospitality.
In the Country House Valnerina you can enjoy a warm atmosphere, and the valley is so welcoming that you'll consider it your second home.

THE PEACE OF THE VALLEY

Sant’Anatolia of Narco it’s a small town on the banks of Nera river, located at 328 mt on the level of the sea, in the middle of the green Valnerina valley, in the center of Umbria.

We are here, dipped into the peace of this small and typically medieval village, sorrounded by XIVth century walls and dominated by two big towers that stand still, since XV th century. TERRACE

Eventually, our jewel: the wonderful hanging garden, a spacious and beautiful area in which you can relax. During the summer we will serve you dinner on the panoramic terrace, from where it's always possible to admire the valley and catch the stars.

RESTAURANT

The guests will be welcome in a intimate dinner-room next to a nice fireplace or in the franciscan frescoed and amazing refectory.
A "la carte menu" suggests a rich selection of traditional regional dishes using only genuine food and healthy ingredients DOC and DOP for dozens of recipes made up by the creativity of the chef.
The guest will also have the possibility to pick the daily menu.
An expertly selected wine list offers a wide choice of wines mainly Umbrians.

WINE BAR

The wine-bar is an occasion for lovely stop at lunch time, meeting point after work for a awesome appetizer or in the late evening to taste excellent wine.

CAMPANI ROOM

The Campani Room, is the former church of the Country House, featuring good acoustics, has a capability for 150 people and it is perfect for meetings and parties SPORTS IN VALNERINA

Valnerina is the perfect place for whose who love sport, and want to get close contact with nature. In the Monti Sibillini Park you can try rafting, rock-climbing, hang gliding, trekking, field trips, cave exploring, kayaking, and moreover horse and donkey riding and Tibetan bridge. There are personalized programs for anyone.

So, if you are a beginner or have children, don't worry: all the activities cater for several grades according to your experience, so the whole family can have fun together.
