Typical umbrian farmhouse in the wonderful park of the Trasimeno Lake

On 26th october 1995, at "Slow Food Residenza il Casato Lago Trasimeno" in Castiglione del Lago, intervenes the prince Alberto Canepa from Castelcicala, wich names principalità the country with a parchment in prince's own hand and with the seal of his house....
It is an enologic and gastronomic circle, where "Slow Food" means to relish the life and with this aim on thuersday, on friday and on saturday the circle proposes for each evening a different "tasting menu".
Riccardo Ceccarelli, the promoter and the cook of the circle, will get ready tipical dishes of Umbrien and Tuscany and the guests can taste very good flavours, fowls, mushrooms and truffles and fish on friday. After dinner it will be possibile to taste ecologic grappa, the unforgettable "peperoncino" -a herbal product with "ardore and furore" and bitters of the legionary, but only for the most audacious guests.
Periodical they propose cook courses spuring the fantasy of the most interprising guests....

Our menu of wines presents about 350 types: Sassicaia, Ornellaia, 50/50, Brunelli, Nobili, Chianti.

Location and Appartments

Slow Food Residenza il Casato Lago Trasimeno is in Umbria, in the near of Trasimeno Lake, 7 km away from Toscany, in little Badiali Village. In ancient time it was a warning tower. This seventeenth-century house has been enlarged and renovated during the centuries without losing its historical value. Nowadays it is used as flats and tavern.

Houses for holidays - flats
The indipendent flats can put up families oder married cuple for a weekends or for a week. These flats lie in an pleasant environment, where the country sorrounds medieval villages and the lake, wich lie between farms. The sowing around the farms change the colors of the nature with the yellow sunflowers, the red poppies, the ochre corn. It is possibile to meet pets too.
The flats are furnished with stylish und period fornitures in harmony with the ancient, cosy and simple peasant traditions with the today's comforts. The color of the floor done in terracotta tiles shows up the wooden bean ceiling.


The flats have kitchen, indipendent heating, TV, bath with shower.
Some flats have the fireside in the small dining room or in the bedroom and other flats have the terrace - solarium with a view on the lake. These flats differ in colors of the walls and in capacity.
After the visits to the artistical towns the guests can relax in a homely and cosy environment, where lies a garden with swimming pool and where they can cook using the barbecue open-air.
Weekly period, from saturday to saturday, the prices include bed linen with weekly change and consumptions and finally cleaning. How to get

Motorway ( A 1 ) Florence - Rome :

From North: junction Valdichiana- they have to follow the marks to Perugia and they have to get off at Castiglione del Lago and then they have to follow the road markings to Chiusy, 6 km away the cross for Panicarola.

From South: junction Chiusi-Chianciano Terme toward Castiglione del Lago until the cross of Magione-Panicarola.
At Panicarola in front of filling station "Esso" they have to get onto the internal road, where lies "Mobile Casavecchia" (Avenue due Agosto) and to go on about 500 m and after the bend they arrived at " Borgo Badiali -Locanda del Principato".

Places to visit: artistic towns and mystic places where you can taste excelent wines and a very good cooking and you can do beauty tratments by Chianciano and S. Casciano.
